From 1947 to the present, the U.S. Mint has produced Mint Sets. These are specially packaged sets of uncirculated examples of all the coins issued during that year for regular circulation. In other words, Mint Sets contain the coins from each mint and denomination that were issued for general use in a given year.
In addition to regular Mint Sets, Special Mint Sets were issued from 1965 to 1967. Proof Sets were not made in those years and the coins used in the set were clearly a cut above the quality of coins struck for circulation.
