Bust Half Dimes

There are several different types of Bust Half Dimes made from 1794 to 1837. Flowing Hair Half Dimes were the first type and were made from 1794 to 1795. They were followed by Draped Bust Half Dimes from 1796 to 1805.

The 1796 and 1797 dated coins had a small eagle reverse. Bust Half Dime coinage then took a three year break and started up again in 1800 with a Heraldic Eagle reverse till 1805.

Another break and then the emergence of the Capped Bust type from 1829 to 1837. All Bust Half Dimes were struck at the mint in Philadelphia.
